Fruits that improve skin texture and health
Strawberries- Contains an incredible amount of health boosting vitamins and minerals.  Strawberries also contain antioxidants which help to neutralize the free radicals in your body.  Some studies have ranked strawberries as the fruit containing the highest amount of antioxidants with plums ranking just below.
Papaya- Contains antioxidants as well as a special enzyme called papain that can kill dead cells and help with skin impurities.  Consume or apply the the flesh of papaya to your skin.
Banana- Rich in vitamin A, B and E, bananas work well as an anti aging agent.
Lemon (or citrus fruits such as orange or grapefruit)- Contains high levels of Vitamin C which is responsible for collagen formation.  Collagen directly correlates with your skin’s elasticity so consuming more Vitamin C will help with sagging skin and wrinkles.
Apple-  ”An apple a day, keeps the doctor away.”  It’s true, apples’ antioxidant properties help with cell and tissue damage and flavanoids, a type of antioxidant found in apples, also prevent heart disease and stroke. Quercetin present in the skin of apples is a powerful antioxidant, a natural anti-histamine, and anti-inflammatory.

Can you guess what our skin’s worst enemy is?

The sun!  That’s why it’s important to wear sunscreen even on cloudy or rainy days.  UV radiation can cause wrinkling, burns, age spots and most deadly of all, skin cancer.  Although the sunlight seems weaker in the fall and winter seasons the intensity actually remains consistent throughout the year.  So wear your sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) every morning before heading out!

genesysblog: As the temperature outside steadily drops, we must make sure to alter our skin routine accordingly to prevent dry, flaky skin.  Long, hot showers may feel great, but strips your skin of moisture.  Instead, take warm showers and use body wash instead of bar soap, which is often too harsh for the skin.  Pat yourself dry and use a hydrating moisturizer while your skin is still moist and can absorb the benefits more efficiently.  Then treat yourself to a cup of cocoa!  Cocoa contains a flavonoid called epicatechin which improves skin texture by increasing nutrient, oxygen and blood flow to the skin.
